AJ

Yesterday's:

21-15-9

Deadlift @ 185#
wall ball
burpee

7:11

Burpees slowed me down. Couldn't quite find that rhthym that I'm accustomed to on those. Hopefully we won't have a amrap burpee WOD in the open.

Today's

7 rounds

400m run
10 push jerks @ 135#
10 kb swings @ 70#
rest 2 min

31:39

Tough. Very tough. Been a while since I've done a long workout, and this def. constitutes as that.

@Prayer request: I'm on it. Awesome that you get to be around fellow believers in the workplace. That makes going to work, being at work, and working, much better for everyone.

KUNKEL

2/17/2013
Had a full weekend trying to get ready for the weeklong meeting in Orlando, so have to post a few WODS.
Friday:  5 Mile Run, 37:05.
Saturday:  20 Min AMRAP-
2 MU’s
4 HSPU’s
8KB swings @ 55#

15 Rounds + 1 MU
This was a tough one, I’ve done it before so I need to find out how I faired in comparison.

Today (Sunday):  Family WOD- We did this one together, that way we could push each other and trade off running with the stroller in the wind.
5 Rounds of:
800M Run
10 Burpee Box Jumps @ 20”/ 24” respectively
10 Wall Balls @ 20# ball 8’/10’ respectively
10 SDHP @ 30#/ 75# respectively

Time:  37:21

Burpee Box Jumps are actually kind of fun if I can say that.  I think I like them better than regular box jumps.

@prayer request:  I’ll be around all of my coworkers for the most part just this week for the entire year and I’m pumped that someone set up a bible study for Wednesday, so my request is that I would be humble salt and light.

AJ

Back to back days at the box hasn't happened in a long time. Glad to get back in the saddle. Shoulder, still not 100%, but with the open around the corner, I'm gonna try to buck up and do what I can to help our team out, then come April we'll move on.

Yesterday's:

Back squat
5 reps at 235
3 reps at 255
3 reps at 285

3 min amrap
3,6,9, etc.
Shoulder to overhead @ 115#
toes to bar
rest 2 min
then 3 min amrap
burpee *hand release at bottom* box jumps games standard
rest 2 min
then 3 min amrap
pick up where I left off on sh2oh/t2b

All in all, 27 burpee box jumps and 108 reps

Today

weighted push ups, then ring dips
then

12 min amrap

75 power snatch @ 75#
50 wall balls
10 muscle ups

Got to 6 muscle ups. Took a solid min rest from minute 4 to minute 3 following the 50th wall ball. Then hit my head with about :20 left, and lost desire to move on for 7th rep of MU

@ God story: God is good and does provide. I wish that my excitement for CrossFit was that of sharing the message, or talking about God. Example: I hate that if I'm at the grocery store, I hear of someone talking about CrossFit, I'll want to chime in and talk to them about it. If I hear of someone talking about God or Jesus at the grocery store, meh... cool, see ya later - is what I think. And I know what the right response is and what should be going on in my head, but my sinful/selfish desires take over.

@HS students: Great job on staying active in the youth! Very exciting that it wasn't just a seasonal thing, but you've stuck it out and stayed faithful to the students- and incorporated some CrossFit into their lives as well. I'm going to assume that you've been active in youth group for more than just a few years, and with that in mind -

Has being a father changed how you view/lead being a HS bible study, youth group leader?

Just something to think about.

2/14/2013

Behind a few, been crazy getting ready for a week of chaos in Orlando for work with lots of prep.
Tues: Family run for about 5 miles
Wed:  High school funday.  Since we moved our H.S. bible study to sunday night instead of wednesday the SR. guys wanted to still meet and we figured what the heck might as well sweat a little together.
That said, I'm gonna put a hurtin' on these fellas.  We did a modified version of partner Murph, 1 Mile, 100 sit ups, 200 push ups, 300 squats, 800M run.  Took right around 35 minutes for the slowest team.
Today: 5 Rounds for Time of-
40 DU's
30 Box Jumps @ 24"
20 KB swings @ 55#
400M Run

Time:  29:53

@God Story:  Earlier today I got to view the agenda for our week long meeting next week and there are breakfast, lunch and dinner events almost everyday.  That got me thinking about how we love to share our passions with others, whether it's crossfit, hunting, football, etc.  Then of course, that got me thinking about how sharing the gospel should be the same story.  One that we share with everyone because we love it/ Jesus so much.  My next connection was wow, it would be really cool if we had a bible study at our meeting.  Then of course, God provides when I logged onto my email someone set up that very thing for Wednesday.  He provides and always will!!!

AJ

@Kunkel: You are a stud. Great Godly story, great job on the granite countertops, awesome job on the workouts. Not only have you caught up to me, but without a doubt, definitely surpassed me. Probably in strength too.

@God story: Gave me the idea of wanting to go through Mark as well. I'm about to finish up John (although my consistent daily reading has been sketchy), then I'll go right into it. Awesome story. No matter how often we are reminded of our cleansing, our flood of grace that covers us, we continue to sin and fall all kinds of short. Reminds of the Derek Webb song "Awake My Soul":

When I stand on the edges of Jordan
The saints and the angels beside
When my body is healed, and the glory revealed
still I can boast only Christ.

Hope that makes sense and you can see the connection.

@Kitchen: Once you go granite, you'll wonder why it took so long to get it in the first place. Improves the value of the home, and quality of life increases as well. My favorite is taking stuff out of the oven or my big green egg and putting it right on the counter without having to worry about scuffing up anything or burning the laminate counters. Great colors too. I don't even care if it makes me sound feminine critiquing your kitchen- I have seen too much of HGTV, but owning a home now makes me appreciate your work.

@Workouts: Keep up everything. You better be signing up for the open. $20 and we can log our workouts and compete against each other. Maybe put a meal on the line? We'll visit Austin I'm sure at some point, and we can come to collect... but probably pay.

Today's workout:

3 x 12 unbroken pull ups (first pull ups I've done in months)

10-8-6-4-2
165# power cleans
bar facing burpees

6:18

My own God story:

Wife and I visited Denton Bible and got to hear the amazing Tommy Nelson speak. I wish this dude did not age, he's got such a presence in a sanctuary, its like he demands everyone to listen to him. Anyway, he spoke on "illumination" and how, essentially, the only way to hear God's word is to read the bible. Not by sitting in a room and hoping that some weird voice is overheard, or by waiting for His word to come to you - reading the scriptures is the ONLY way to hear it. Of the many good points, he said this is a Living word - in that you can read it over and over again, read the same words, but hear it differently. Other books, you know the ending, story line, everything, but not with the Scriptures.

Have a good week you guys, praying for you.

KUNKEL
2 Rounds For Time:
100 DU's
50 Push Press @ 95#
25 Toes to Rings

Time:  14:10

Last Thurs did one that I couldn't finish due to prior commitments but I liked it and recommend trying it.
"Holleyman"
30 Rounds for Time:
5 Wall Balls
3 HSPU's
225# power clean, 1 rep

My Modifications were 22 rounds, power cleans with 155#.
Time:  20:36

@Workouts, there's no way I've caught your, much less passed.
@ God Story:  I like the song and it definitely makes sense.
@Reading God's word:  very true.  I believe that the more we read the more sinful we realize we are, in return we realize the magnitude of God's Grace understanding it more than even the day before.  I really like your call out on reading the same scriptures over and over.  Laura and I have been using ESV study bibles(meaning they have 3 columns: 2 with text and 1 for notes taking) and looking back at our notes comparing learnings from then to now and it is a great way to reflect on many fronts.
@Open:  don't you have to use a Box to submit the scores?  Plus you will kill me on the strength side of things not to mention everything else!

KUNKEL

Had to go for a quick run, not sure how far but did some intervals and to finish it off I ran a 6:43 miles with a total running time of 32:43.
Yesterday
3 Rounds for Time:
10 MU's
30 Deadlifts @135#
30 Box Jumps @ 24''

Time: 21:59
Now this was a really good one, Ridge you would tear this one up big time!  Klint you should add one goal of conquering the MU for 2013!!!

@God Story:  today got to spend some time in a mens study and we are going through Mark and  the simple stories you learn as a child and wow God is smart and obviously all knowing.  Looking at the leper that proclaimed that if Jesus willed he could heal him then he was told by Jesus, "I will, be clean now go and tell no one and offer cleansing."  Yet what he did was leave and talk freely about Jesus healing him.  Now this is a perfect example of the Gospel that I had not seen previously.  You see the leper did not have access to the temple because of his disease (for us our sin seperates us from God) and when Jesus reached out and touched him that act declared Jesus unclean because he touched someone unclean.  Now the leper is healed and Jesus is dirty, giving the leper access to the temple for the first time(Just how Jesus gave us access to a relationship with God the father by taking our sickness, making us clean and becoming sick/ dead).  Now for the next layer of this onion, The leper was given direction after having access to the Father and he CHOSE NOT TO OBEY!!!!  Wow, I do this everyday.  I choose pursuit of the world instead of a relationship with the one that took my disease and made me clean.  Free will happens after we are charged with obedience!!!  So let's go and be light!
